In recent years there have been quite a lot of articles on cycling in Bangkok, but very little on the corresponding experience in Chiang Mai. I and Jan decided to try it out. The trip was partly along the Ping River which is one of four rivers that together with Nan, Wang, and Yom flows together to create the Chao Phra... Read more

Buddha´s hand and other stories from the Dokmai Garden
- Look at this fruit, it came to Europe before the orange "says Eric, and points to a citrus fruit that looks like the combination of an octopus and a lemon. The fruit is Buddha's hand, a fruit that Chinese and Japanese people have had in their homes throughout history to create a nice scent and fragrance in their homes. Buddha's hand is the logo of Dokmai Gardens. Dokmai Gardens is a creation by Eric Danell, Swedish by origin and his lovely wife "Katie" (Ketsanee Seehamongkol). They a... Read more

Village festivals of Chiang Mai- Ban Patan
Village festivals of Chiang Mai - Ban Patan (Pratan)festivalThere is not a single month without a festival in the area of Chiang Mai. The major trend at the moment is that the smaller villages have their own festivals, with a walking street, lots of food, traditional dances and of course a live band and some fair amount of local whisky consumtion. From Ban Tawai, to Bo Sang and Muangkung to Ban Patan. It seems that every village in Chiang Mai is engaged in some kind of handicraft and there... Read more

National Geographic Atlas: Now on the iPhone
We've never hidden our affection for the National Geographic MapMachine, the digital version of our best-selling Atlas. But after acknowleding its coolness in a past blog post, one commenter, Clint, noted that it would be an incredible tool to have on the iPhone. Well someone was listening to you Clint, as we're proud to announce that the NG World Atlas is available on the iPhone and iPod Touch as of today. The Atlas enables you to search the globe three ways: using the "antique" view, the cl... Read more
