Are Consoles The Digital Media Hub In Your Living Room? In this video, I discuss where we're going with digital entertainment in the home. According to an article on Engadget, more homes have a console in the house than those which have a cable box. 2% more households have a game console than those with a settop box. @anywhere
When we designed Twitter, we took a different approach—we didn’t require a relationship model like that of a social network. Keeping things open meant you could browse our site to read tweets from friends, celebrities, companies, media outlets, fictional characters, and more. You could follow any account and be followed by any account. As a result, companies started interacting with customers, celebrities connected with fans, governments became more transparent, and people started discovering... Read more

Announcing the Seesmic Desktop Platform and Seesmic for Windows Phone
Shared by Mitchell Very cool that their going to be offering an SDK to develop plug-ins for Seesmic Desktop - it's a large advantage Seesmic Desktop will have over Tweetdeck. If Seesmic doesn't have a feature you need, build it, which is much more appealing than Tweetdeck's closed platform model where we're waiting for them to add-in features - it's pretty smart really, they've basically just crowd-sourced Seesmic Desktop's development. As for the cross-platform announcement, as an Ubuntu... Read more

3 Reasons Why Modern Warfare 2 DLC Isn't Worth The Price
Richard Bailey of thekoalition.com writes:Since the beginning of March, the ongoing saga between Infinity Ward and Activision has rocked the gaming masses by exposing controversial practices at the flagship studio. While reports surfaced that insubordination was the cause of two key departures, the biggest story came when it was announced that unpaid royalties also played a crucial role in the incident. Last night further suspicion arose when it was announced that the first Modern Warfare 2 D... Read more

EA completes Battlefield: Bad Company 2 server maintenance
[sugree] After a rocky launch period, EA assures us via Twitter that the Battlefield: Bad Company 2 online servers should now be finally stable. Pretty much every iteration of Bad Company 2 has seen issues arise when connecting to EA's servers for multiplayer online, with Xbox 360 kicking some users all the way out to the Dashboard and PC users experiencing authentication issues with PunkBuster. The developer now says that those issues have been addressed, due in no small part to new serv... Read more

New Pac-Man Is Actually Like Battle Royale
Namco Bandai's teaser trailer for Pac-Man Battle Royale several weeks ago gave us very little to go on with this 30th Anniversary arcade revival -- is it a remix of Pac-Man CE with Pac-Man Vs.-style multiplayer matches? Maybe it's a game in which boisterous Junior High Pac-Man students are trapped on a dangerous island and forced to fight against each other to the death? Or perhaps it's just Pac-Man with all the fruit sprites replaced with quarter pounders from McDonalds? Arcade Heroes ca... Read more

Xbox 360 Arcade currently $130 in Canada
If you've been holding out on buying an Xbox 360 for the last five years until it drops below $150, and, um, you live in Canada, you'll be totally psyched to hear that the Arcade bundle of Microsoft's console is currently on sale in the great white north for just $130. The Xbox Canada site lists the price drop for both Futureshop and Best Buy, though we also found it over at Amazon Canada and GameStop Canada. Get 'em while you can! We've followed up with Microsoft to clarify whether or not... Read more

Check.in: finally, a unified check-in for Foursquare, Gowalla and B...
Shared by Bwana I'm not into the location craze, but I know some of you are. This may be a good option. Filed under: Utilities, Social Software, Mobile We've been writing an awful lot about the location wars on Download Squad lately. Gowalla, Foursquare, and the rest are exploding in popularity, and that means trendy, early-adopter types might have several different sites to check in with every time they go somewhere. Reporting your location to multiple sites is a usability nightmare, but... Read more

ICQ Is Back And It Uses Facebook and Twitter
Do you remember ICQ (”I Seek You”)? It was one of the first desktop download chat applications and was sold to AOL for $400 million in 1998. Strangely, it fell off the map after the acquisition, but has since resurfaced as a type of community-based social network that leverages Facebook and Twitter. We take a look below. ICQ has expanded its range to include a community based web page that allows you to log in, view your friends information, chat and customize your profile. For all inten... Read more

Tiny, robotic space shuttle to be launched into orbit in April
Shared by Bwana Uhhh...Why!??! A long-delayed project initiated by NASA and carried out by Boeing may finally get to see the light of cold, beautiful day according to reports from the US Air Force. The X-37, a small, robotic space plane is set to make its first unmanned trip into orbit in April. Conceived by NASA as an unmanned re-entry lifeboat for crew of the International Space Station, the X-37 reportedly has a cargo bay of just 7 x 4 feet, and it has apparently been shipped to Florid...
